2011 as Entrepreneur

Friends, I am just excited to share my first year experience as entrepreneur with iCRG Labs (www.icrglabs.com)

The Decision

There was high paying job and comfortable life in Singapore. I have learned that to become entrepreneur first you have to become jobless. This gives you most freedom to go behind your goal of life.

There were so many continued thought process till late night, some time till morning 5AM, even gone through sleepless nights. You always had to consider the pros on cons, if leaving your job and to become jobless. Had so many conversations with family members and friends and well wishers. I bet it was not an easy decision to take at all.

It required great courage, self confidence, passion to do different things. For sure decisions don’t happen on its own. You have to take it. Also you may not take right decision. But you always can make the decision right by perseverance. Resigning to my job happened to be greatest decision of my life so far.

Struggles teaches you the greatest lessons

I believe the struggles teach you greatest, unforgettable lessons in our life. Soon after completion of my graduation, there was tough time, as recession impacted so badly that I was jobless for more than 10 months. This jobless time was greatest learning time for me. It taught me so many things right from effective management of finance to how to become strong minded persona. As most of my friends were in job, it was really need to talk to myself on daily basis and stay cool and be patient. I have seen almost every difficult phase of a jobless poor guy could think of. Those were great lessons which I feel very very useful in these days.

The experience makes perfect

Entrepreneurship is not easy as we think of. Whenever we see any one successful in business, be it a pani puri business, if we are saying he is making good money easily and without any struggles, just by making panipuri. Then I would say, you have very less knowledge as an entrepreneur. Every business in the world has its own struggles, risk and success. This is what I have experienced in my entrepreneurial journey so far.

In entrepreneurship mistakes are there to make. Here we tend make mistakes; we realize that we have done mistakes; and finally we learn from those mistakes. This cycle of mistakes will make you more cautious before taking any decisions. Experience makes man perfect isn’t it?

Entrepreneurship is a great platform

Entrepreneurship is a platform where you can use every skill of yours with highest satisfaction. This is the place where you enjoy the most. You will be playing role of everyone in an organization can have. Entrepreneur means you are P2P of your company, means President to Peon. No degree can give this experience. So many times I could use my sweeping skills in my office which I have learnt from my mom when I was aged 5. Knowing how to carry weight on your shoulder, this really helped me on lots of occasions.

Sacrifice gives most satisfaction

Sacrifice is foremost thing you have to do for becoming a successful entrepreneur. You will have to sacrifice family happiness, comfortable life, sleep, food, rest and many more.

There use to be so many late night meetings, most of the time used continues till next day morning. Every moment you have to think of business. Initial days of starting and building a company are most challenging days for sure.

Connecting with people

Business is all about connecting with people. There is no deal between two companies; it is always between people from two companies. There might be so many formalities, documents etc, but ultimately connecting people with trust and faith that run great and successful businesses.

Be realistic and practical
You cannot do everything
Be straight forward
Innovation is the key in the business
Be passionate
Be ready to sacrifice
Make mistakes. Learn from mistakes.

Moving on to 2012

I am going to take 2012 as greatest year in my entrepreneurial journey, with great plans, passion to execute those plans, and many more. Taking iCRG Labs to globe and making iCRG Labs as global company is our dream. We, entire iCRG Labs team working hard to make this happen. Once you have 30 plus employees who are working with you, you have enormous responsibility to make sure they are happy by all means. It has been great pleasure to working with all my team members with amazing team spirit and energy.

Why we love kids?

How many of us thought, asked ourselves something like this, I should have been still child, or why I grown up? I am sure we all. I bet! We always want to live like a child.

Kids have and live by the innocence that we wish we could still had. They can also read situations without man-made prejudices. Kids reinvent your world for you. When we see a child, we forget every boundary of society or whatever and we just love kids. Don’t you?

For me kids means, hope, their word is simple and white, I love their curiosity to know the world. If you see kids learning new things, you or kids never know that they are learning, it just happens them and they do.

I always believe that kids are greatest teachers in the world. Be it their dedication, curiosity, innocence, you call it whatever; there is great things to learn. They always drive us forward with great extent of satisfaction. Isn’t it?

I feel if your wishes to be fulfilled, you become kid. As simple as that. Because I have never seen parents or anybody for that matter rejecting any true, right wishes from kids.

We love being like kids or watching kids with cute actions. We love to hear kids talking with sweet voice and some time even it is so fun to watch kids crying for demanding something.

i-CRG Labs team joins India against corruption movement

i-CRG Labs joins India against corruption movement in a special way. We arranged technical app day program at our office, where entire team at i-CRG Labs devoted the day to support Anna, who is marvelous inspirational for every citizen of great country India.

We decided to develop an app for iPhone and Android devices, which will help everyone to support the fight through the smart phone devices. This application shows how latest technology trends can help in greater extent for the movement of this kind.

The technical app day started at 9AM, with ideation, conceptualization, brainstorming, finalizing of an app which will help support fight against corruption. Then day moved further with other stages of software development life cycle, designing and architect the app, finalizing the UI, designing database etc. Every member of team was busy with their own assigned task of the app. The design team busy with art work required for app, iPhone and android team completely involved in coding, web team occupied with database designing, web service creation, and music team was busy with composing music for the app.

That was really amazing to watch everyone, who is so inspired and motivated to something for the social cause. It was great team spirit, the interaction between team members, asking for UI changes, web service updates etc…. That was just fabulous!!! The entire team stayed late till morning 5AM, almost 18 hrs continuous dedication, brought us a beautiful, useful app for fighting against corruption.

God might not have given special talent, ability to achieve great things in our life. But still sheer hard work, dedication, commitment and immense concentration always gives you greater success. That is what this wonderful gentleman has proved . He is been there for Indian team since a decade. He is certainly a great sports man, a great human being.

I salute you and thank you Rahul Dravid for the joy of classical batsmanship for so many years. We will definitely miss you in limited format of cricket game. Wishing you a greater success!!!

Short time at Srilanka

Visited Srilanka, just look out for the potential business opportunities. A nice place, I just enjoyed the trip.

I could see some areas in srilanka still underdeveloped. Rather than saying 50% people are very poor, I woulld say they are just enjoying their life whatever they have. Most of the buidldings are very old.
Interms of culture whatever I could see in the short available time, there is lots of resemblance with indian village culture. I just loved it as I always believe in indian village culture.

On the way I got a chance to visit one of the old Budha temple in srilanka. As per information who took me around the temple, it was built around 400 years back. Very beautiful, nicely carved arts explaining Budha’s life story. Had fantastic time over there,just by seeing all those beautiful designs.

Finaly I just enjoyed food which was provided in my hotel, had a nice talk with guys around there.

Last week I had visited cultural program arranged here in Singapore. People from India have come to show their talent. Some of the performances were excellent… They are the people who bring our Indian culture at international level.

The bharathanatyam which was performed by Sayiraman Nruthya Kendra Thumakoor, was one of the best performances I have ever seen. Hats off to you guys… Keep going.

Become Jobless

Surprised? As some of us struggled to get right job you might think what this guy is saying. This is just for people who wants to become enterpreneur...

Thanks a ton to Singapore Kannada Sangha for arranging the Business forum. This sangha is just doing an amazing job here in Singapore. In this business forum, I Just had a wonderful opportunity to meet some of the well known business people from India. As becoming entrepreneur is my long term dream, it was just inspirational for me.

One of the speakers, Sridhar who was saying if you want to become entrepreneur, first thing you should do is “become jobless”. It may look funny. But it does have lots of meaning in it. Yes we are all working and are in comfort zone. You should come out from our comfort zone, start struggling to make things out that you are dreaming about. Moreover the satisfaction you are getting by doing some thing of your own is marvelous.

It doesn’t mean that you to be jobless from tomorrow. Think... think... think... with proper plan... J

Started learning Chinese!

Today I was just walking around with my camera to click some snaps. Saw kid who was playing with rain. I just wished him hi and he came running to me.

I asked for his name, even after asking more than to 10times, I could not pronounce his name. Then asked him to spell, finally I could get it. Cham Wan long:) told me to call wandlo (short name). He showed his intelligence I think.

He was so happy when I gave Indian coin. I had some funny time with him. He asked my name... this time he had difficult time. Finally one more name short name added to me. Damatha:) Even after I spelled my name this is what I got from this cute kid.

I asked him to teach me Chinese. Today I managed to learn only two lines:) so difficult yar…

He agreed to teach me Chinese everyday at 3:30 in the evening after his school. Yes I found new Chinese teacher!

Then I met his dad. As common rule in Singapore where women are working and men usually don’t work. First thing he said to me is he cooks at home. He resigned his job long back as there was some problem from his boss (that is common I guess). Then we talked about culture, language…. Blah…blah…continued for more than hour.

Life is too short

I had a friend with whom I had shared beautiful moments of my school and college life. We laughed together, cried together, played together, walked together... After those liveliness moments of life we departed away for our higher studies. Life was going on… We didn’t meet each other since long time and didn’t even talk over phone as we were so busy in making our life. We had planned so many times to meet each other but again that busy life never allowed me to meet him. Some time we are too late in realizing that we are too late. Now and forever I cannot even plan and think of meeting him again. He is no more and god has taken him away from everybody. I will never be able to meet him in my life. I lost him forever….

Some time we experience that the people you care most are taken away from you soon. I have learned that the life is too short to postpone the things which really deserve to be done. Every moment is special event; don’t wait for special event to come. Everyday is beautiful gift which is presented by god. I never can be busy in my life which stops me in meeting, talking to people. Without people I can never be able to celebrate my life. I will share my enthusiasm for life with everybody. I'll make smile, show kindness to someone even I don’t know. I am always there to cheer up someone who seems down. I’ll feel others feelings and express my gratitude. I will laugh little more.

We will never be able to live in the future without living in the present. For me life is pattern of experience to delight in, not to endure…

Just Five More Minutes

This story I have read somewhere written by somebody. It is really heart touching. I just wanted to share with you all my dear friends.

While at the park one day, a woman sat down next to a man on a bench near a playground.

“That’s my son over there,” she said, pointing to a little boy in a red sweater who was gliding down the slide.

“He’s a fine looking boy” the man said. “That’s my daughter on the bike in the white dress.”

Then, looking at his watch, he called to his daughter. “What do you say we go, Melissa?”

Melissa pleaded, “Just five more minutes, Dad. Please? Just five more minutes.”

The man nodded and Melissa continued to ride her bike to her heart’s content. Minutes passed and the father stood and called again to his daughter. “Time to go now?”

Again Melissa pleaded, “Five more minutes, Dad. Just five more minutes.”

The man smiled and said, “OK.”

“My, you certainly are a patient father,” the woman responded.

The man smiled and then said, “Her older brother Tommy was killed by a drunk driver last year while he was riding his bike near here. I never spent much time with Tommy and now I’d give anything for just five more minutes with him. I’ve vowed not to make the same mistake with Melissa.

She thinks she has five more minutes to ride her bike. The truth is, I get five more minutes to watch her play.”

Smile - A Beautiful Gift

“Smile” the five letter word is greatest phenomenon in the world. When you smile, that gives greatest meaning to your life. Smile can do wonders in everybody’s life. Smile can take anybody from anywhere to delightful moment. As Joseph Addison expressed, “What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity.”

One smile can create thousands of smiles in a fraction of second. Smile can be ignited in bus, train, railway station, tea shop, market etc. There is no boundary for smile. Smile doesn’t have any language. Smile itself is the language which connects people. Charles gordy writes “A smile is an inexpensive way to change your looks”.

The greatest strength of human beings is creating smile on others face. When you smile at someone, it is a marvelous gift to that person. It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give. Smile should travel like breeze and goes beyond mile. Spread smile everywhere, it is remedy for all kind of diseases. Phyllis Diller says “smile is a curve that sets everything straight”. It is symbol of love, liveliness, joyfulness. Smile brightens up the sky. Smile is evidence for optimism. Mother Teresa says “Peace begins with a smile”. Smile so the world can be a peaceful place to live.

Give smile to everybody and make your life worthwhile!! Smile always...

BE DIFFERENT

Everybody is different from others. We can never imitate others in our real life. Everybody wants to be great, wants to be different. That is common nature of all human beings. When you listen to music, you feel like to become great musician, when you see great football player, you tend to think to play like him. That momentum will not last for long time. We tend to forget things and our mind goes to default state. Eventually what you have done for making yourself great? Ask yourself:

· What is stopping you? Where are you going wrong?

· What are you best at doing for yourself? How do you do that? How can you apply these skills in new ways to achieve your goals...?

· "What is possible?" and not, "what is somebody else doing?"

· Do you know your weakness and strengths?

Don’t spend your valuable time in gossiping about others. You get nothing in return by doing so. Don’t spend your precious time on some thing which doesn’t deserve it. Don’t procrastinate. If you feel that you are free, try to learn something new by reading books about great personalities and good books which are worth reading, watching some meaningful movies, meeting some good people, visiting some good places. The kind of motivation, inspiration you get by doing these can change your life. Learn good things from others and adapt those in our life. That is greatest thing that we do in our life.

Wherever you are fallow the mantra “Do good, be good”. When somebody appreciate and recognize your work, then that is marvelous credit you receive in your life. Then you can laugh the laugh of contented child. You can go ahead your life with head held high.

There is turning point in everybody’s life. That cannot just happen on its own. You should turn yourself by putting in lots of effort. Get out from your laziness. Make use of your time to its fullest extent by doing things which makes you feel better. Every moment is so important. When time changes you also should move towards the greatness. It is like climbing a big tree. You may fall down but never give up. As Huey Newton says “If you stop struggling, you stop life”. If you reach your goal then your life is worth living…

Moments of life

As we travel in the journey of life we have left behind so many moments. Out of these some of the moments will last beyond our life. When recollected these moments leaves tears in our eyes.

Lying on the bed listening to rain outside and drizzling sound. Bare foot walking on road when it is raining heavily. Running towards your daddy for sweets as soon as he returns from town. Showing your new dress to your friends. Visiting your relatives’ house with your mom by holding her hand.

First day of your school life and looking at new faces with excitement. Last bench chatting, silly fights, under bench munching, waiting for favorite teacher’s class, sleepless night on previous day of school trip. Big laugh even after you and your classmate gets beaten up by your teacher. Wasted effort to impress somebody in your class. Naughty love stories, outstood classes, late night talks, bunking class for movies. Those never written postponed tests, last minute preparations.

Thinking deeply about your dearest person in the world. Taking a long bicycle ride on a calm road. A sweet and emotional conversation, finding money in your old torn jeans just when needed. Giggling naughtily… holding hands with your friend for a walk, getting a hug from someone you care the most, the moment your eyes are filled with tears after a big laugh.

Those moments makes your life so beautiful and will be rejoiced. Life is series of these moments. In between these moments life is going….on…

Hi, I am Damodar Puthiya. Friends call me as damu, dami, dam, dams, damodar etc. Whatever names from this u call me I am damn sure I respond to you with a smile. Born and brought up in Puttur a town in Mangalore. Puthiya is name of area in my village.

As part of my family, my mom is housewife and dad is agriculturalist. They are marvelous source of inspiration for me who always motivates me to keep going. My elder sis is school teacher and my younger bro is business man. Sis is so cute n loving. My bro is like a best friend of mine. We talk, share each other about everything…even sometime we fight each other. We three used go to town in one bike and used to have lots of fun. I love them all so much…

Friends are significant parts of my life. I think I am lucky to have best of everything: best of friends, best family and best of every relation I have. From these wonderful people I have learned a lot to understand myself much better and I have seen great changes with in me. Those struggles at the beginning of my life always make me even more stronger. Now I have started realizing that everything in life is possible. “It is all in your mind”.

About my pastimes apart from watching tv, listening to music, browsing, chatting, I spend lot of time in reading books, blogs,articles about spiritual, management, business, love, life, history, biography blah blah…so boring isn’t it? But that is great source of wisdom. I believe in meditation, yoga, dreaming and visualizing. Sometime you can find me in ground playing cricket. I enjoy long evening ride in a calm road…

One day I want to travel all parts of the world and see new people, new culture, new style… I want to leave a mark in the world by doing some wonderful things. One day I want to own big car and have long drive with my family, friends… I just want to laugh more and spread that laughter to everyone. Life is still worthwhile if you just smile right?
